What is Paint Correction?

Before we apply any of our ceramic/graphene coatings or PPF, it’s important to ensure your paintwork is in the best possible condition, as this is the finish which will be protected underneath the coating or film.

Paint Correction is the art of slowly taking back the top layer of clear coat to remove imperfections on the surface of the painted panel. We perform this using our Dual Action (DA) machine polishers which, when combined with the correct combination of pad and polish, act as an abrasive to slowly cut away at the damaged top layer of clear coat.

We use a paint depth gauge which tells us the amount of total paint (primer, colour and clear) that is left on each section of the panel, this helps to guide us on which areas can continue to be polished and which areas should be left to avoid compromising the clear coat.

The differing levels of paint correction we offer directly reflect the amount of polishing stages, and therefore time spent on each car. The more imperfections present in the car, the more polishing stages are required to bring the cars paintwork back to the glossy perfection we all crave. It can take anywhere between 6-100 hours alone to complete this stage.

Once this top layer has been taken back, and all the imperfections are flattened out in accordance to the booking requirements, we can then go ahead and apply a ceramic coating or paint protection film to seal in this finish.

Take a Closer Look at Our Work...

Here we have a quick video showcasing one of our clients recently purchased (at the time) 2015 Honda Civic Type R that we carried out our Level 4 Paint Correction, Interior Deep Clean and Full All Surface Protection Package inside and out.

Our client had purchased the vehicle as an 'Approved Used' via a main dealer with extremely low mileage and was mechanically perfect however, the paintwork and general appearance of the vehicle left very little to be desired, with heavy swirls and an overall generally faded appearance from frequent previous visits to 'roadside' car washes by the previous owner, certainly not what you'd expect from a car of this stature.

After speaking with both the client and dealership, it was agreed that a space would be set aside whereby we could go in for a few days and 'properly' prepare the vehicle for the client prior to collection, thereby giving our client both the  'immaculate' car he was buying from day one, whilst still getting to enjoy that 'new car' showroom collection experience from the dealership!
